The last few years have seen. a rapid growth in demand for Plastic Surgery services in the Middle East. This has perhaps been even more obvious here in Dubai due to the multicultural society and ease of access to the information highway. As one gets older, there comes a point at which there is a desire, no matter how small, to rejuventate oneself. This may take the form of wanting to "set back the clock" or alternatively to change an inherent feature of the face or body. Whatever the case, our society is becoming more and more appearance conscious and this is simply not a matter of vanity but also of professional achievement as well. A number of recent books and articles have indicated that attractive people tend to do better in public relations and sales, indeed in most Jobs which involve human interaction.

I think it is true that many more people think of visiting a Plastic Surgeon than actually end up doing so. The reasons for this are apparent. Firstly, "am I being too vain?" or "what will others think?". Secondly, "Who will go to, and can I trust the surgeon?". Thirdly there is the Fear of the Surgery itself. Finally there are the financial issues -" Is the surgery affordable, and will it really make a difference?". The fact that the public are being constantly bombarded with new commercial products does not help, One only has to look at the many different proprietary rejuvenating creams to understand that tills is huge target market, in which the individual ends up very confused?

In my experience many people would opt for treatment if it did. not involve surgery and/or a long down time. Professionally everyone is getting busier and less and less time can be taken off for post op recuperation. While there are certain issues which can only be addressed by Surgery itself, there are a number of office plastic surgery procedures which have great efficacy , and allow the individual to go straight back to work. I have found great acceptance of this type of treatment for facial rejuventation. Excellent results are achieved in properly selected candidates.
